Margot Robbie claims Disney killed female-led ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ film

That ship sailed and sank.

Actress Margot Robbie said Monday that the brand-new, female-led “Pirates of the Caribbean” film was forced to walk the plank by Disney, reported Vanity Fair.

According to the “Birds of Prey” actress, the idea was broached in an effort to reboot the franchise that originally starred Keira Knightley, Orlando Bloom and Johnny Depp.

“We had an idea and we were developing it for a while, ages ago, to have more of a female-led – not totally female-led – but just a different kind of story, which we thought would’ve been really cool,” the 32-year-old actress said.

“But I guess they don’t want to do it.”

The Post has reached out to Robbie for comment.

The idea for the reboot was brought into existence in 2020 when producer Jerry Bruckheimer — who helped produce the original franchise — was also attached to the project alongside “Birds of Prey” writer Christina Hodson, according to Vanity Fair.

“Pirates” was one of Disney’s most commercially successful franchises, grossing $4.5 billion across five films.

There were even rumors of Depp getting his own Jack Sparrow spinoff but was later asked to leave during his defamation trial against Amber Heard.
